UKG Payroll Administrator

The Payroll Administrator supports a large, multi-state payroll operation by reviewing and reconciling project timecards, preparing weekly payroll, and ensuring accurate, timely pay for a diverse workforce. This role focuses heavily on workforce management and timekeeping, with an emphasis on payroll auditing, data analysis, and historical corrections rather than traditional end-to-end payroll processing. Responsibilities

  • Review and reconcile project timecards prior to the weekly pay run to ensure accuracy and compliance with company policies and applicable regulations.
  • Prepare and review weekly payroll, including accurate data entry of payroll information and generation of associated reports as needed.
  • Prepare and process daily off-cycle checks, including retroactive pay calculations when required.
  • Research and resolve payroll-related inquiries from team members via phone and email in a timely and professional manner.
  • Serve as a payroll team liaison for project teams, providing guidance on timekeeping, payroll processes, and issue resolution.
  • Complete unemployment earnings requests accurately and within required timeframes.
  • Set up new craft payroll team members, including salary and pay-related updates, and process terminations in the payroll system.
  • Support employee timekeeping activities, including reviewing and correcting time entries as needed.
  • Perform historical payroll corrections, ensuring proper documentation and alignment with labor and payroll records.
  • Review and validate labor hours and prevailing wage information to support accurate payroll processing and compliance.
  • Collaborate effectively with individuals at various organizational levels and from diverse backgrounds to maintain strong working relationships.
  • Work closely with other payroll teams, including payroll tax and payroll systems, to support a cohesive and efficient payroll operation.
  • Leverage Excel and payroll systems to perform analytical reviews, identify discrepancies, and support continuous improvement in payroll accuracy and efficiency.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree or Associate’s degree with 1+ year of payroll experience.
  • Experience working in a payroll environment, preferably supporting large or multi-state employee populations.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including data views, graphing, pivot tables, and VLOOKUP functions.
  • UKG (or E-Time) experience, with the ability to navigate and utilize workforce management/timekeeping tools effectively.
  • Proficiency with 10-key data entry for efficient and accurate numerical input.
  • Ability to perform detailed payroll audits, identify discrepancies, and execute accurate corrections.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and work with large data sets.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience supporting workforce management or timekeeping functions within a shared services or centralized payroll department.
  • Familiarity with prevailing wage requirements and labor hour tracking in construction or project-based environments.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Minneapolis, MN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $36.05/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
