Senior Workday Integrations Product Engineer
Elanco
About the role
Build and run Workday integrations for a global workforce, using Workday Studio, PECI, WECI, EIB, Core Connectors, Workday Web Services, REST/SOAP APIs, and Boomi or cloud services. This hands-on role covers architecture, data mapping, security, CI/CD, monitoring, production support, and integration modernization, with end-to-end ownership in an Agile product engineering team. Workday Extend experience is included, and travel is 0–10%.
We are looking for an experienced Workday Integrations Product Engineer to join our engineering organization and help design, build, operate, and continuously improve the integration ecosystem supporting our global workforce.
This is a hands-on engineering role with a strong focus on Workday integration development, architecture, automation, reliability, security, observability, and operational excellence.
Your Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, test, deploy, and support robust integrations between Workday and enterprise applications using Workday Studio, EIB, Core Connectors, Cloud Connect, Workday Web Services, REST/SOAP APIs, PECI, WECI, and middleware technologies like Boomi or cloud services.
- Design scalable, secure, and maintainable integration patterns based on business requirements, data volumes, security needs, and reliability standards.
- Perform integration analysis, data mapping, transformation, validation, and reconciliation.
- Contribute to the evolution of the overall Workday integration architecture, establishing reusable patterns, engineering standards, best practices, and conducting technical design reviews.
- Identify opportunities to simplify existing integrations, modernize legacy workflows, and reduce technical debt across the HR technology ecosystem.
- Apply strong software engineering principles including version control, peer reviews, automated testing, CI/CD, and structured release management.
- Build integrations with observability, operational resilience, proactive monitoring, alerting, logging, automated recovery, and self-healing error handling by design.
- Troubleshoot complex production issues, conduct root-cause analysis, and continuously improve integration performance and supportability.
- Ensure all integrations strictly comply with enterprise security, privacy, and data governance standards, implementing robust authentication, authorization, encryption, auditability, and secure data transfers.
- Collaborate within an Agile Product Engineering team alongside Product Managers, Designers, HR stakeholders, and global engineering groups, actively participating in ceremonies, backlog refinement, and roadmap planning.
- Own solutions end-to-end across their entire lifecycle - translating business requirements into scalable technical options, challenging complexity where simpler approaches exist, and communicating concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
What You Need to Succeed (minimum qualifications):
- Degree & Education: Bachelor’s or higher degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Workday Integration Expertise: Strong hands-on experience developing, supporting, and troubleshooting complex Workday integrations in a large, global enterprise environment, including experience with Workday Extend or broader Workday platform capabilities.
- Core Integration Technologies & Patterns: Strong experience with Workday Studio, PECI, WECI, and enterprise integration platforms (e.g., Boomi).
- Technical Protocols & Data Handling: Deep proficiency with Workday Web Services, REST/SOAP APIs, XML/XSLT, data transformation, event-driven integration, and overall integration architecture.
- Security & Governance: Strong understanding of security, data privacy, and data integrity principles.
- Delivery & Methodology: Experience working within Agile and DevOps delivery models.
- Soft Skills & Collaboration: Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with the ability to work effectively across product, engineering, business, and vendor teams.
What will give you a competitive edge (preferred qualifications):
- Cloud Platforms & DevOps Practices: Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., GCP or Microsoft Azure), CI/CD pipelines, and automated deployment practices.
- Operational Tooling & Observability: Strong background in monitoring, observability, automated operational tooling, and IT service management platforms such as ServiceNow.
- Modernization & Analytics: Proven experience modernizing legacy integrations, reducing technical debt, and leveraging reporting or analytics technologies like Power BI.
