About the role

TL;DR

Own an in-house Workday integration portfolio in a permanent, fully remote role, taking over partner-built integrations and supporting payroll-sensitive production feeds. Build and maintain integrations with Workday Studio, EIB, Core Connectors, Cloud Connect, Workday Web Services, Reports as a Service, XSLT, REST, and SOAP; five or more years of integration experience and three or more years in Workday production support are required. You will also maintain and build secure AI agents and connectors, with some after-hours work for payroll support.

HR Green is bringing its Workday integration portfolio in-house, and we are looking for a Senior Workday Integration Developer to own it. Our Workday environment connects HR, payroll, and finance data with key enterprise systems through custom Workday Studio integrations and packaged connectors. You will assume ownership of these integrations from our implementation partner, support them in production, adapt them as systems change, and build new integrations as our Workday capabilities expand.

This is a permanent, in-house, fully remote role within one of the states where we currently operate, including Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, Missouri, South Dakota, Texas, not a project engagement. As the integration portfolio stabilizes, you will also become HR Green's technical resource for our firm-wide AI program: taking over AI agents and their supporting integrations built by external specialists, maintaining and adapting them, and building new ones, partnering with those specialists on larger implementations as the program grows. The AI work is applied development focused on secure, useful business solutions, not AI research or model development. If you are a Workday integration developer who wants to own an environment end to end, establish long-term internal ownership, and grow into applied AI work with real business impact, keep reading.

What You'll Do

  • Lead the transition of our Workday integrations from the implementation partner to internal ownership, including knowledge transfer, runbook and specification review, and setting up monitoring and support procedures
  • Serve as the primary support resource for production integrations, with priority on payroll-impacting feeds, and maintain the integration inventory and documentation
  • Design, build, test, and deploy new and modified integrations using Workday Studio, EIB, Core Connectors, Cloud Connect, Workday Web Services, Reports as a Service, and XSLT, including Studio integrations that call connected systems' REST APIs
  • Mature error handling, batch tracking, logging, and notifications so failures are caught before they affect payroll or onboarding
  • Plan and run integration regression testing for Workday releases and connected-system upgrades
  • Take over, maintain, and adapt AI agents and their supporting integrations, set the acceptance criteria that keep third-party deliverables maintainable, and build the secure API connectors and service identities that let approved agents work with HR Green systems
  • Build new agents and automations, independently or with external specialists, and apply our standards for agent testing, monitoring, and lifecycle management
  • Apply secure development practices and follow HR Green change-management, source-control, and release processes; some after-hours work is expected to support payroll-sensitive integrations
  • Perform other duties as assigned

What We're Looking for

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • Five or more years developing and supporting system integrations, including three or more years building and supporting Workday integrations in production with hands-on Workday Studio development, and working familiarity with the broader Workday integration toolset (EIB, Core Connectors, Cloud Connect, Workday Web Services, Reports as a Service, XSLT)
  • Experience with taking ownership of integrations built by others and operated them reliably, including diagnosing failures across systems, root-cause analysis, and restoring service
  • Hands-on experience consuming REST and SOAP APIs, JSON and XML, and token-based and OAuth 2.0 authentication
  • Working proficiency in XML/XSLT and at least one general-purpose programming language, plus source control and code review
  • A candidate who can explain technical issues, risks, and trade-offs clearly to HR, Finance, and operations partners
  • Demonstrated aptitude and interest in applying AI and automation platforms to business problems
  • Experience building on LLM platforms or enterprise copilot/agent tooling is preferred
  • Experience integrating a professional-services ERP, payroll or benefits providers, identity directory, ITSM, or learning platforms is preferred
  • Proficiency in Python and working knowledge of SQL are preferred
  • Current or prior Workday integration certification or equivalent formal Workday Studio training, and cloud or AI certifications, are a plus
