Workday Integrations Engineer

Kainos

Belfast, United KingdomHybrid

About the role

TL;DR

Join the Kainos EDM team to build and maintain Workday enterprise document management integrations for global customers. You’ll work hands-on in Workday Studio and Orchestrate for Integrations, support product upgrades, and help deploy integrations across customer tenants through agile sprints. The role suits someone with foundational XML, XPath, and XSLT knowledge, familiarity with Java or another object-oriented language, and a degree or equivalent practical experience.

As an Associate Workday Integrations Engineer in our Kainos EDM team, you'll be part of a team responsible for developing and maintaining a suite of enterprise document management integrations deployed to a large, global customer base. Working under the guidance of experienced consultants and your team lead, you'll contribute to integration development, support customer upgrades to new product versions, and assist with the deployment of integrations across customer tenants.

This is a hands-on technical role with real responsibility from the start. You'll participate in engineering sprints, work directly in Workday Studio and Orchestrate for Integrations, and gain exposure to a wide range of enterprise customers. There's a structured onboarding path that includes deep dives into the integration suite, mock exercises, and paired work with senior team members.

You'll be supported throughout your learning journey, but you'll also be expected to take initiative, ask thoughtful questions, and take ownership of the quality of your work. You care about doing work well, have strong attention to detail, and are motivated by seeing your work in production across real customer environments.

Minimum (essential) requirements

  • Basic understanding of cloud computing, web services, and integration concepts, including APIs, authentication, and data transformation.

  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to follow established processes and documentation.

  • Willingness to learn complex systems quickly and work through ambiguity with appropriate support.

  • Good communication skills, with the ability to ask clear questions, raise issues early, and explain your work to others on the team.

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment, follow agile sprint-based delivery processes, and meet deadlines.

  • A proactive attitude and a desire to continuously improve your own knowledge, as well as the tools and processes around you.

Desirable

  • Workday experience or certification (HCM Fundamentals, Integrations, or Studio).

  • Exposure to middleware or integration platforms.

  • Experience with version control tools (e.g., Git) and deployment pipelines.

  • Familiarity with XSLT transformations and data-mapping concepts.
