Senior HRIS Product Specialist (SuccessFactors)

About the role

This is an opportunity to serve as the functional product owner and subject matter expert for SAP SuccessFactors Learning Management System (LMS) and related learning technology solutions. In this role, you will lead platform strategy, optimization, governance, and operations in support of business objectives, regulatory requirements, and employee development initiatives.

You will oversee system enhancements, releases, reporting, integrations, data governance, and user experience while helping ensure operational excellence, risk mitigation, and compliance with organizational standards. You will also partner closely with HR, Compliance, Risk, Technology, vendors, and business leaders to deliver scalable solutions and drive continuous improvement.

This role will also play a meaningful part in a global project, engaging with senior stakeholders as the SAP LMS subject matter expert to help shape decisions, align priorities, and support successful delivery. Reporting to the LMS Director, this individual will provide leadership, coaching, and oversight while fostering accountability, professional growth, knowledge sharing, and high-quality service delivery.

Key Responsibilities and Strategic Leadership:

  • Own the product roadmap, backlog, and framework for SAP SuccessFactors LMS, ensuring alignment with business priorities, regulatory requirements, and enterprise technology strategy.

  • Serve as a trusted advisor on learning technology strategy, platform capabilities, compliance requirements, and industry best practices.

  • Contribute to a global project as SAP LMS subject matter expert, engaging global stakeholders to provide guidance, align priorities, and support effective delivery.

  • Build strong partnerships with senior leaders, HR stakeholders, Compliance, Risk, Audit, Technology teams, and external vendors to drive successful business outcomes.

  • Influence decisions across matrixed teams while managing competing priorities and fostering accountability.

  • Lead the planning and execution of enhancements, releases, integrations, and process improvements while balancing stakeholder needs, operational stability, and risk considerations.

  • Oversee platform administration, security, reporting, compliance monitoring, data management, and issue resolution to ensure reliable and effective service delivery.

  • Drive automation, process optimization, and data quality improvements to enhance user experience and reduce operational risk.

  • Establish and maintain operational controls, testing standards, change management processes, and quality assurance practices that support system integrity and audit readiness.

  • Partner with Risk, Compliance, and Audit teams to maintain documentation, evidence, controls, and reporting required to meet internal and external audit requirements.

  • Provide direction and prioritization for team resources, ensuring effective workload management and achievement of departmental goals.

  • Coach, mentor, and develop team members through performance feedback, development planning, and ongoing support.

  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, operational excellence, and risk awareness.

  • Effectively communicate recommendations, metrics, risks, and strategic updates to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Qualifications:

Required

  • At least 5 years of experience supporting a cloud-based learning platform such as SAP SuccessFactors Learning, Cornerstone, Workday Learning, or a comparable enterprise solution.

  • Experience serving as a functional system owner, product owner, lead administrator, or technology specialist for enterprise learning solutions.

  • Demonstrated success leading HR technology initiatives in complex, matrixed environments while influencing stakeholders and driving business outcomes.

  • Experience providing work direction, mentoring, coaching, or leadership to HRIS, HR technology, or systems professionals.

  • Strong understanding of system configuration, release management, testing, reporting, integrations, production support, and vendor relationship management.

  • Knowledge of data integrity, compliance reporting, audit readiness, operational risk management, regulatory requirements, and related controls.

  • Experience developing and using dashboards, reporting solutions, and analytics to monitor system performance, compliance metrics, adoption trends, service levels, and key risk indicators.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, project coordination, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy, accountability, and customer focus.

Preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Information Systems, Business Administration, Learning Technologies, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • SAP SuccessFactors Learning certification, accreditation, formal training, and/or significant hands-on expertise preferred.

  • Experience configuring and supporting SAP SuccessFactors Learning, including security, reporting, learning assignments, compliance programs, and system administration.

  • Experience with SuccessFactors Report Center, Story Reports, People Analytics, SAP Analytics Cloud, Power BI, Tableau, or similar business intelligence platforms.

  • Knowledge of learning content standards and integrations, including SCORM, AICC, Open Content Network, virtual learning platforms, and third-party content providers.

  • Experience supporting training compliance programs within highly regulated industries such as financial services, banking, healthcare, insurance, or other regulated environments.

  • Experience with HRIS integrations, user provisioning, SSO, role-based security, and data governance practices.

  • Familiarity with ITIL, Agile delivery methodologies, service management practices, project governance, and change-control processes.

Additional Requirements

SMBC’s employees participate in a Hybrid workforce model that provides employees with an opportunity to work from home, as well as, from an SMBC office. SMBC requires that employees live within a reasonable commuting distance of their office location. Prospective candidates will learn more about their specific hybrid work schedule during their interview process. Hybrid work may not be permitted for certain roles, including, for example, certain FINRA-registered roles for which in-office attendance for the entire workweek is required.
