Director, HR Technology (SuccessFactors)

About the role

TL;DR

Lead the SuccessFactors platform across Employee Central, Recruiting, Onboarding, Performance & Goals, Compensation, and Talent. You’ll set the HR technology roadmap, guide AI and automation work, lead enhancements and integrations, and build a high-performing team while partnering across HR, IT, and the business. This hybrid role is primarily based in Cambridge, MA, and requires 10+ years of progressive HR technology experience.

The Director, HR Technology is responsible for leading the strategy, design, delivery, and ongoing optimization of Alnylam’s HR technology ecosystem. This role will own the SuccessFactors platform, drive the adoption of AI-enabled and digital capabilities, and partner closely with HR, IT, and business stakeholders to deliver scalable, efficient, and employee-centric HR solutions. Reporting to the Executive Director, HR Innovation & Analytics, this is a critical leadership role that will ensure HR technology effectively enables core HR processes, supports business growth, and enhances overall employee experience across the organization.

This is a hybrid position and will primarily be based in Cambridge, MA.

Responsibilities

HR Technology Strategy & Platform Ownership

  • Develop and execute the HR technology strategy and multi-year roadmap aligned to HR, business, and enterprise technology priorities.
  • Serve as the technical owner for the SuccessFactors suite, including Employee Central, Recruiting, Onboarding, Performance & Goals, Compensation, and Talent modules.
  • Drive system design decisions that balance global standardization with regional and functional needs.
  • Ensure data integrity, role-based security, system stability, and compliance with regulatory requirements.

AI, Innovation & Digital Enablement

  • Identify and implement opportunities to apply AI, automation, and emerging technologies to improve HR efficiency and decision-making.
  • Partner with HR Innovation, Analytics, and IT teams to pilot and scale digital solutions such as genAI, workflow automation, and intelligent self-service capabilities.
  • Champion digital-first and automation-oriented approaches across HR operations and services.
  • Stay current with industry trends and emerging HR technologies; evaluate and recommend tools that support scalability and innovation.

Stakeholder Partnership & Governance

  • Act as a strategic partner to HR COEs, HRBPs, People Operations, IT, Finance, Legal, and other key stakeholders.
  • Translate business and functional requirements into practical, scalable HR technology solutions.
  • Lead HR technology governance forums to prioritize demand, manage enhancements, and align stakeholders on roadmap decisions.
  • Support change management, communication, and adoption efforts to maximize value from HR systems.

Delivery, Operations & Continuous Improvement

  • Lead system enhancements, integrations, upgrades, and releases using strong program and product management discipline.
  • Manage relationships with system integrators, vendors, and third-party partners.
  • Establish and monitor KPIs related to system performance, adoption, data quality, and user experience.
  • Ensure high-quality documentation, testing, audit readiness, and operational support.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Build, lead, and develop a high-performing HR technology team with strong technical, analytical, and consultative capabilities.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and innovation within the HR Technology organization.
  • Serve as a visible leader and subject matter expert within HR and across the enterprise.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Information Systems, Business, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in HR Technology, including leadership of enterprise HR platforms.
  • Experience with SuccessFactors is preferred, including Employee Central and talent modules.
  • Demonstrated success leading HR technology implementations, or large-scale optimization initiatives.
  • Strong stakeholder partnership skills with the ability to influence and collaborate at all levels of the organization.
  • Experience with AI, automation, or advanced digital capabilities within HR technology environments preferred.
  • Experience in global and/or regulated environments preferred.

The pay range below reflects the full-time base salary range we expect to pay for this role at the time of posting. Base pay will be determined based on a number of factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, skills, and education. This role is eligible for an annual short-term incentive award (e.g., bonus or sales incentive) and an annual long-term incentive award (e.g., equity).

U.S. Pay Range

$205,700—$278,300 USD
