Enterprise Application (HRIS) Lead

ECPI University

Virginia Beach, VA, United StatesOn-site

About the role

TL;DR

Lead the hands-on UKG-to-Workday HRIS transition for the next 18 months, then own the platform after go-live. Configure and support HCM, Payroll, Time, and Absence, while building and troubleshooting integrations with payroll, benefits, finance, and other enterprise systems. This senior individual contributor role requires 5+ years of hands-on HRIS experience and includes direct responsibility for reporting, governance, payroll integrity, and system reliability.

The Enterprise Applications Lead serves as the hands-on technical owner of enterprise applications supporting Human Resources and Finance, with primary responsibility for the HRIS platform (UKG transitioning to Workday).

Reporting within the IT Services organization, this role is accountable for system configuration, integrations, reporting, governance, and operational stability. The primary focus for the next 18 months will be leading and executing functional and technical workstreams for HRIS implementation, followed by long-term ownership of the platform post go-live.

This is a senior individual contributor role. It requires direct, hands-on execution — not oversight alone — and carries operational accountability for system reliability, payroll integrity, and integration accuracy.

Key Responsibilities

HRIS Platform Ownership (Primary Focus)

  • Serve as system owner and lead administrator for UKG and Workday.

  • Personally configure, test, troubleshoot, and optimize HCM, Payroll, Time, and Absence functionality.

  • Lead hands-on execution during the UKG-to-Workday implementation, including requirements validation, testing, data review, and stabilization.

  • Own post–go-live support, enhancements, release management, and platform governance.

  • Ensure system reliability, data integrity, and operational continuity.

Integrations & Enterprise Alignment

  • Design, build, monitor, and troubleshoot integrations between HRIS and payroll, benefits vendors, financial systems (including payroll-to-GL), and other enterprise platforms.

  • Partner with IT architecture and security teams to ensure compliance with enterprise standards.

  • Enforce disciplined change management and release controls.

Reporting & Finance Collaboration

  • Develop and maintain operational and executive reporting across HR and workforce-related financial data.

  • Partner with Finance on payroll-to-GL validation, reconciliation processes, and audit support.

  • Support Concur (or equivalent expense system) administration and integration alignment as needed.

Governance & Controls

  • Establish and maintain intake, prioritization, testing, and release processes for enterprise application changes.

  • Maintain documentation of configurations, integrations, and system controls.

  • Ensure compliance with internal control standards, audit requirements, and data governance policies.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Business, HR, Finance, or related field.

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience supporting enterprise HRIS platforms.

  • Demonstrated configuration experience with UKG and/or Workday HCM (implementation and/or post-production support).

  • Experience supporting Payroll and/or Time Tracking modules.

  • Experience designing and troubleshooting integrations (EIBs, connectors, APIs, file-based interfaces).

  • Understanding of workforce data flows from HRIS through payroll and into GL systems.

  • Experience operating within IT governance frameworks (change management, security, architecture standards).

  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and cross-functional communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting a UKG and/or Workday transition.

  • Experience administering Concur or similar expense management systems.

  • Familiarity with payroll-to-GL integrations and financial reconciliation.

  • Experience building executive dashboards or operational reporting.

  • Workday or UKG certification.

Role Scope

This position does not manage direct reports. While it collaborates closely with HR, Finance, vendors, and IT teams, it is expected to personally execute system configuration, reporting development, integration troubleshooting, and operational support.
