HRIS Analyst - Payroll (Workday)

TL;DR

Own configuration, support, and testing for Workday Payroll, Time Tracking, and Absence, including earnings, deductions, calculations, time rules, accruals, and eligibility. Translate business requirements into Workday solutions, troubleshoot payroll, time, and absence issues, and support releases and production validation with Payroll, HR, Benefits, and Finance partners. Requires 3+ years of Workday Payroll, Absence, and Time Entry configuration experience.

The HRIS Analyst – Payroll, Absence & Time Tracking (PATT) is responsible for the configuration, maintenance, support, and continuous improvement of Workday Payroll, Time Tracking, and Absence functionality. This role partners closely with Payroll, Human Resources, Benefits, Finance, and other stakeholders to translate business requirements into effective and scalable Workday solutions.

Responsibilities

Workday Configuration & Administration

  • Configure and maintain payroll-related system components including earnings, deductions, calculations, eligibility rules, and related business processes

  • Configure and maintain Time Tracking functionality including time calculations, time entry rules, validations, eligibility, overtime, premium pay, and related business processes

  • Configure and maintain Absence functionality including time-off plans, accruals, eligibility rules, carryover rules, validations, and related calculations

  • Perform configuration changes in accordance with established HRIS change control and governance standards

Requirements & Solution Design

  • Troubleshoot Workday configuration, calculation, data, and processing issues impacting payroll, time, and absence

  • Partner with Payroll and other functional stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate approved requirements into Workday solutions

  • Evaluate requested system changes and recommend configuration approaches based on Workday capabilities and established standards

  • Identify upstream and downstream impacts of proposed configuration changes

Testing & Release Management

  • Develop test scenarios and execute unit, regression, and system testing for configuration changes

  • Coordinate and support User Acceptance Testing with functional stakeholders

  • Evaluate Workday releases for Payroll, Time Tracking, and Absence functionality

  • Recommend and implement applicable release features and enhancements

  • Validate production changes following deployment

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of Workday Payroll, Absence and Time Entry configuration experience

  • Understanding of payroll concepts; payroll processing experience is a plus

  • Experience with test planning and execution

  • Strong attention to detail and data accuracy

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills

  • Ability to translate business requirements into effective system solutions

  • Strong communication skills and ability to partner effectively with both technical and functional teams
