About the role

TL;DR

Own Workday security architecture and administration across HCM and Financials in a techno-functional role. You’ll turn use cases into requirements, configure and test solutions, lead UAT, manage platform releases, assess integration impacts, and own SOX controls and audit support. The role calls for 3–5 years of hands-on Workday experience, Agile delivery skills, and a related technical degree; Workday Security Pro certification is a plus.

We are looking for a Systems Engineer for a techno-functional role that bridges technical and functional delivery, with security architecture and administration as the core focus, spanning Workday HCM and Workday Financials modules within IT Finance and Employee Success. One would spend time on requirements breakdown and elaboration, configuration, testing execution, compliance mechanics, sprint-level delivery and post-production validation, working with minimal supervision. Integration awareness is also required to evaluate technical complexity and feasibility. Strong understanding of the Workday security framework is required.

What You'll Actually Be Doing

  • Independently decompose Product Manager-authored use cases and problem statements into detailed technical requirements, user stories, edge cases, and validation rules.
  • Perform hands-on configuration across primary assigned platforms; evaluate design tradeoffs and document the rationale behind configuration decisions.
  • Conduct build vs. buy feasibility assessments (technical complexity, integration impact, effort) and surface recommendations to the Product Manager.
  • Lead UAT execution for assigned features — prep test environments, guide business SMEs through testing, and triage/resolve defects for re-testing.
  • Write and maintain integration-aware test cases; execute end-to-end regression testing across system boundaries.
  • Identify upstream/downstream integration impacts before build begins and coordinate with integration engineers.
  • Author release notes documenting what changed, how it was tested, and known impacts or dependencies.
  • Perform peer reviews of configuration authored by other team members and managed service providers.
  • Design and implement Workday security models, perform impact analysis and recommend the best practices.
  • Manage periodic platform release implementation (e.g., quarterly/bi-annual platform releases) for assigned systems.
  • Own SOX IT Application Control mechanics for assigned systems — complete quarterly control certifications and support audit walkthroughs independently.
  • Participate actively in backlog refinement and Big Room Planning sessions; ensure Definition of Ready compliance for sprint items.
  • Begin contributing to AI/Agent build tasks — configure and test basic Agentforce flows or platform AI features within assigned systems.
  • Support production triage and contribute to root cause analysis when issues occur, escalating and coordinating with Ops/engineering as needed.

You're Our Person If...

  • 3-5 years of hands-on configuration/implementation experience with Workday.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently break down business use cases into detailed technical requirements, configuration specs, and acceptance criteria.
  • Experience leading UAT execution, including defect triage and resolution coordination with business SMEs.
  • Working knowledge of platform security frameworks, business processes, and reporting/integration.
  • Experience with SOX or similar compliance control ownership, including audit walkthrough support.
  • Experience conducting peer reviews of configuration work.
  • Experience working with Agile/Scrum methodology, including backlog refinement and sprint delivery.
  • Ability to communicate technical tradeoffs and status clearly to Product Managers and stakeholders.
  • A related technical degree required.

Even Better If...

  • Basic exposure to configuring or testing AI/agentic features (e.g., Agentforce, Einstein, or equivalent platform AI capabilities).
  • Experience managing scheduled Workday platform release cycles.
  • Familiarity with integration frameworks and coordinating with integration engineers on cross-system dependencies.
  • Experience with Version Control, Code Collaboration, and Continuous Integration systems (e.g., GIT).
  • Exposure to Geo Expansion or M&A system onboarding activities.
  • Experience working in SaaS/PaaS architectures and enterprise IT environments.
  • Workday Security Pro certified.
