Workday Extend Consultant Developer

About the role

TL;DR

Contract role, onsite in Staines, building Workday Extend applications for Procurement and Grants Management/Finance. Own design, development, testing, deployment and handover using App Builder, PMD, Extend Studio, orchestrations, Workday APIs, WQL, RaaS and custom objects. Requires 5+ years of application or integration development, a full Workday implementation or enhancement programme, and mandatory Workday Extend/Pro Extend and Build on Workday certifications.

We are looking for experienced Workday Extend Developers to build and deliver custom Workday applications across:

  • Strategic Sourcing / Procurement

  • Grants Management / Finance

The successful candidates will take hands-on ownership of assigned Extend applications, from design and development through to testing, deployment and support handover.

Essential Requirements

  • 5+ years of application or integration development experience.

  • Strong hands-on experience building applications using Workday Extend.

  • Experience delivering Extend applications through at least one full Workday implementation or enhancement programme.

  • Hands-on experience with Workday App Builder and Presentation Model (PMD).

  • Experience with Extend Studio and Workday orchestrations.

  • Strong understanding of the Workday data model, business objects and custom objects.

  • Experience with Workday REST/SOAP web services, WQL, RaaS and Custom Reports.

  • Strong JSON and JavaScript skills.

  • Experience with XML, XSLT and XPath.

  • Understanding of Workday security, including API Clients, OAuth 2.0, ISU and ISSG.

  • Experience with Workday Business Process Framework.

  • Strong debugging, error handling and performance troubleshooting skills.

Workday Integration Experience

Experience with the following would be highly desirable:

  • EIB

  • Core Connectors

  • Workday Studio

  • Document Transformation

  • SFTP, PGP and X.509 certificates

  • Middleware/iPaaS such as MuleSoft, Boomi or Azure Integration Services

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build, test and deploy Workday Extend applications.

  • Develop App Builder, PMD pages, tasks, cards and orchestrations.

  • Configure custom objects and integrate applications with core Workday business objects.

  • Build and consume Workday REST and SOAP services.

  • Develop WQL queries, RaaS and Custom Report data sources.

  • Integrate Extend applications with Workday Business Processes, notifications and alerts.

  • Configure Extend security and authentication.

  • Perform unit, system integration, regression and UAT testing.

  • Implement appropriate error handling, logging and monitoring.

  • Support tenant migrations, releases and cutover activities.

  • Maintain technical documentation and support runbooks.

  • Work closely with the Extend Lead and functional teams to deliver applications to agreed standards.

Project Focus

We are currently looking for developers who can contribute to Extend applications in:

1. Strategic Sourcing / Procurement

Experience with Workday Procurement, Strategic Sourcing or related business processes would be highly valuable.

2. Grants Management / Finance

Experience with Workday Financials and/or finance-related Workday processes is preferred.

Certifications – Mandatory

  • Workday Extend Certification / Workday Pro Extend

  • Build on Workday (BoW) Certification

Desirable Certifications

  • Workday Integration – Core Connectors and/or Studio

  • Workday HCM

  • Workday Financials

  • Workday Strategic Sourcing
