Senior Manager, Workday Technology Lead

Location: Home Office - NYC or ATL

Hybrid 3x a week in office.

The Senior Manager, Workday Technology Lead serves as the strategic technology leader for Shake Shack’s Workday platform and primary subject-matter expert for the platform’s integrations, security, data, and overall optimization. The role oversees the end-to-end flow of information across Workday and key enterprise systems, translating business needs into scalable solutions that support the organization’s people, financial, and operational priorities. This is a hands-on leadership role that combines technical execution with accountability for the quality, reliability, and delivery of solutions developed by internal teams and external partners. The role leads priorities, work allocation, solution reviews, and delivery across a global team while maintaining a strong understanding of Workday’s capabilities and business processes. The role partners closely with business and technology stakeholders to drive continuous improvement, ensure effective platform performance, and deliver solutions that meet Shake Shack’s evolving business needs.

Job Responsibilities and Duties

Integration Development & Lifecycle Ownership

• Design, build, deploy, monitor, and debug Workday integrations using Studio, EIB, Core Connectors, Document Transformation, and REST/SOAP APIs across payroll, banking, benefits, POS, supply chain, procurement, and analytics.

• Own the integration catalog, error-handling framework, and daily run health end to end

Technical Solutioning & Design

• Partner with Finance, People Resources, and Operations to translate requirements into solution designs, data mappings, interface specifications, and effort estimates.

• Evaluate build-vs-configure-vs-middleware options, recommend the approach, and lead technical design reviews with the partner and downstream system owners.

Technical Delivery Management

• Own the day-to-day delivery of internal technical resources and the partner teams — intake triage, backlog prioritization, work assignment, quality gates, and production rollout.

• Hold partners accountable to committed delivery and outcome-based standards through design and code peer review and signoff.

Data Platform & Custom Application Delivery

• Build and support Prism Analytics ingestion pipelines and derived datasets, and deliver Workday Extend applications and orchestrations.

• Own bi-directional data flows between Workday, Adaptive Planning, and the enterprise data warehouse (Snowflake).

AI Agents & Intelligent Automation

• Configure, integrate, test, and deploy approved Workday AI agents, Illuminate features, and automation use cases — including the data access and integration required to support them.

Release, Regression & Integration Controls

• Execute Workday semi-annual release readiness for the integration and data layer — impact assessment, regression test build and execution, sandbox refresh coordination, migration packaging, and cutover.

• Maintain integration runbooks, technical documentation, and ISU/ISSG security; execute assigned SOX/ITGC control activities and produce audit evidence.

Required Experience

• 7+ years of enterprise application delivery, including 5+ years hands-on Workday technical delivery and integration build — not oversight-only.

• Current, demonstrable experience with Workday Financials and HCM and the broader Workday business process and security framework.

• Proven ability to independently develop and debug Workday integrations using Studio, EIB, Core Connectors, Document Transformation, and REST/SOAP APIs.

• Hands-on Workday security administration — domain and business-process security policies, role- and userbased security groups, and access review/audit.

• Experience leading global partner teams and internal teams — assigning work, reviewing deliverables, and holding partners to committed turnaround.

• Track record owning production integration health — monitoring, alerting, incident response, and root-cause remediation.

• Experience leading Workday semi-annual release management, including regression testing and featureadoption assessment.

• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to translate business requirements directly into working, tested solutions.

Preferred Experience

• 8+ years enterprise application experience with 6+ years hands-on Workday; Workday certifications in Integration/Studio, Extend, Security, Financials, or HCM.

• Hands-on Workday Extend development (custom apps, orchestrations, API-driven extensions) and deployment/tuning of Workday AI agents, Illuminate, or ML-driven automation in a production tenant.

• Working experience with Adaptive Planning (model structure, sheets, data loads) and Prism Analytics (ingestion, transformation, blended datasets).

• Experience with middleware/iPaaS (Boomi) and integrating Workday with identity management (Azure AD/Entra ID).

• SOX ITGC execution and internal/external audit support; Agile delivery with Jira andTSM/case-management workflows.

• Experience delivering the technical workstream of finance and HR transformation initiatives —implementations, migrations, and process automation — within established enterprise architecture and integration standards.

• Restaurant, retail, hospitality, or other multi-unit environments with high-volume labor and back-of-house data.

• Speed to Market & Timeliness: Achieve a >90% on-time delivery rate against approved, baselined business commitments for Workday and connected-system enhancements.

• Platform Stability & Continuity: Maintain >99.9% availability for critical Workday integrations and services, with zero Severity 1 incidents or change-related business disruptions during protected business windows, including payroll processing, financial period close, and open enrollment.

• Integration Health: Maintain >99.6% successful and on-time delivery of business-critical integrations, with zero unresolved business-impacting failures to downstream systems and >80% of integration errors detected and resolved by the Enterprise team before they affect business operations or are reported by business partners.

• Platform Innovation & Automation ROI: Successfully deploy at least 2-3 targeted automation initiatives or new platform capabilities each year such as Workday Extend, AI agents, or Illuminate features, resulting in a documented 15% or greater reduction in manual processing time, recurring technical support tickets.
