South East Water£45k / yr

About the role

TL;DR

Lead the technical configuration, audit and optimisation of Cornerstone OnDemand for mandatory training and compliance across around 150 critical water quality roles. You’ll work across Learning, Performance, Core, LAT and Competencies, including Compliance Hub design, complex training rules, reporting, competency automation and the Workday integration. The role includes mentoring a junior specialist; CSOD Certified Administrator status is strongly preferred, and salary starts at £45,000 depending on experience.

We are seeking a Cornerstone LMS Lead to drive the technical configuration, audit, and optimisation of our Cornerstone OnDemand platform in support of a major Drinking Water Inspectorate (DWI) regulatory project.

You will be responsible for mapping, building, and delivering mandatory training and compliance competencies for approximately 150 critical water quality roles.

In this technical lead position, you will resolve legacy configuration issues, establish data cleanliness best practices, optimise our Workday integration, and enhance technical training management on TAP.

Working alongside dedicated Subject Matter Experts who manage stakeholder negotiation, your focus will be purely on evaluating technical feasibility and executing robust system solutions.

Additionally, you will mentor a junior colleague, guiding their technical development and delegating routine administration to build internal team capability.

Main responsibilities:

System Audit & Maintenance

  • System Audit: Conduct a full, ground-up audit of Cornerstone to identify configuration errors, operational inefficiencies, and root causes of performance issues.

  • Issue Resolution: Take technical leadership of complicated system errors to implement high-standard internal fixes, significantly enhancing the effectiveness of day-to-day platform workflows.

  • Data Hygiene: Perform routine and general system cleanup, including archiving or deactivating obsolete content, maintaining data cleanliness, and optimising system health.

“Compliance Hub” & Complex Training Configurations

  • Compliance Hub Migration: Scope out the requirements and present an assessment to a technical Lead whether the business should progress with a transition of training assignments from the current Learning Assignment Tool (LAT) / event-based curricula to the new role-based Compliance Hub.

  • Role Mapping: Establish standardized processes and configure technical system architectures to facilitate automated, role-based assignment of training and robust tracking of organizational compliance.

  • Transition Planning: Develop and execute a phased transition plan to implement the Compliance Hub (or other chosen method) without disrupting ongoing compliance requirements.

  • Custom Parameters: Configure complex, highly specific training rules and prerequisites (e.g., equipment or mask parameter requirements for confined space safety training).

Competency & Career Automation

  • Career Progression: Review Cornerstone’s built-in competency mechanisms to automate career progression schemes currently managed manually.

  • Competency checks: Programme functionality to support operational schemes and general competency. This may include checkbox confirmations to verify colleagues have read and understood processes and are competent at certain levels about different subjects/tasks.

Reporting & Performance Management

  • Report Configuration: Review and build both out-of-the-box and custom reports to ensure zero setup mismatches or reporting errors.

  • Performance System Prep: Configure, test, and verify the annual review system ('I reviews') ahead of company-wide performance cycles.

Mentorship & Capability Building

  • Upskilling & Coaching: Train, and mentor a Junior Cornerstone Specialist, fostering their technical growth, platform expertise, and problem-solving capabilities.

  • Work Delegation: Gradually delegate routine system maintenance, user support escalation, basic reporting, and standard administrative tasks to the junior team member as their skills develop.

  • Quality Assurance: Review and audit configurations, reports, and system updates performed by the junior specialist to maintain operational excellence and data integrity.

System Integration & Technical Support

  • Workday Integration: Monitor, test, and maintain robust communication and data flow between Workday (HR System) and Cornerstone. This will involve working with other specialists in the business who have worked on system integration.

  • Technical Collaboration: Consult with internal technical leads to understand, plan, and troubleshoot technical details regarding integrations and automated workflows.

You'll need: Skills / Qualifications / Experience

  • Degree level qualification in Information Technology, Human Resources, Business Information Systems, or equivalent practical experience.

  • Cornerstone OnDemand (CSOD) Certified Administrator status is strongly preferred.

  • Cornerstone Platform Command: Deep technical expertise in Cornerstone modules (Learning, Performance, Core, LAT, Competencies).

  • Mentorship & Knowledge Transfer: Ability to coach technical concepts, break down complex tasks, and train less experienced administrators effectively.

  • Audit & Data Quality: High analytical acumen to audit existing setups, isolate root causes, and implement best practice solutions.

  • Rule & Logic Configuration: Ability to translate complex operational matrices (such as specific safety parameter requirements) into functional system logic and workflow rules.

  • Custom Reporting: Advanced skills in building standard, custom, and calculated reporting fields within LMS platforms as well as ensuring security profile logic is harnessed effectively.

  • Platform Administration: Strong hands-on experience auditing, configuring, and optimising a Cornerstone OnDemand environment.

  • Migration & Deployment: Experience leading platform transitions, such as moving from traditional curricula/LAT tools to role-based compliance systems.

  • Process Automation: Proven experience replacing manual tracking mechanisms with automated system workflows and competency rules.

  • Mentorship / Leadership: Demonstrated experience mentoring, training, or delegating work to junior system administrators or technical team members (desirable to have this experience but it isn’t essential, however willingness to mentor is required).

Benefits package:

  • Excellent Stakeholder pension scheme, up to 10% employer contribution.

  • 5 weeks holiday plus bank holidays per annum, increasing to 6 weeks with length of service.

  • Flexible annual leave policy to buy or sell holiday leave.

  • Paid volunteering days.

  • Cycle to work scheme.

  • Health cash plan.

  • Life assurance.

  • Wellbeing related benefits.

Compensation package:
