Workday - Senior Consultant, AMS, Payroll

Avaap is seeking an experienced Senior Workday Payroll Consultant to join our Application Management Services (AMS) practice. This role will support clients across ongoing Workday Payroll optimization, support, and enhancement initiatives while also contributing to Phase X and other client initiatives as needed.

The ideal candidate brings strong Workday U.S. Payroll expertise, a consulting mindset, and the ability to effectively manage competing priorities across multiple clients and initiatives. Experience supporting organizations within Higher Education and/or Government is highly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide functional consulting expertise for Workday U.S. Payroll clients within Avaap’s AMS practice
• Partner with clients to troubleshoot issues, evaluate business requirements, and recommend effective Workday solutions
• Configure, test, and support Workday Payroll enhancements and ongoing optimization efforts
• Manage multiple client requests, priorities, deadlines, and deliverables simultaneously
• Collaborate with cross-functional Workday teams to address dependencies across Payroll and related functional areas
• Support client releases, testing activities, issue resolution, and production support
• Participate in Phase X implementations and other client initiatives as needed
• Develop strong client relationships and serve as a trusted advisor on Workday Payroll functionality and best practices
• Clearly communicate status, risks, dependencies, and recommendations to client and internal stakeholders
• Contribute to knowledge sharing and continuous improvement across the AMS practice

What We’re Looking For

• Active Workday U.S. Payroll certification required
• Minimum of three years of consulting experience
• Strong functional knowledge of Workday U.S. Payroll
• Demonstrated ability to work directly with clients in a consulting environment
• Experience supporting multiple clients, projects, or workstreams concurrently
• Ability to effectively juggle competing priorities while maintaining attention to detail and meeting commitments
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to independently investigate and resolve complex issues
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a client-service mindset
• Experience within Higher Education and/or Government environments highly preferred
• Ability to collaborate effectively across functional and technical Workday teams

Pay Transparency

Compensation for roles at Avaap varies depending on a wide array of factors including but not limited to the specific business unit, team, role, skillset, and level of experience. As required by law, Avaap provides a reasonable range of compensation for roles that may be hired.

Base Salary Range is $115,000 to $160,000 plus an additional 20% variable compensation is available for this specific role.

At Avaap it is not typical to be hired at the top of the base salary range. During the interview process, alignment to level will be determined and should level differ from position applied for, a new compensation range will be provided for the appropriate role.

• Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills along with the ability to communicate effectively
• Must be able to perform work indoors and remain stationary at a computer
• Ability to work in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment
• Passion for exceptional customer service and collaboration
• Ability to work remotely or out of one of Avaap’s physical office locations
• Current permanent U.S. work authorization required
