Business Analyst, HRIS (Workday)

About the role

TL;DR

This full-time remote role supports Workday enhancements, issues, and projects by gathering requirements, mapping processes, and maintaining functional documentation. The Business Analyst, HRIS supports the delivery and continuous improvement of Workday and related HR technologies through requirements gathering, process analysis, documentation, testing, and delivery coordination.

This role works across business and technology teams to translate business needs into clear, actionable requirements, maintain accurate process and system documentation, and support technology initiatives from discovery through implementation.

The expected base salary range for this position is $105,000 to $125,000 annually.

Responsibilities

Requirements & Process Analysis

  • Gather, document, and validate business requirements for Workday enhancements, issues, and projects.
  • Translate business needs into clear requirements, process flows, user stories, acceptance criteria, and supporting documentation.
  • Analyze current-state processes and document future-state requirements, identifying gaps, dependencies, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Facilitate requirements and process discussions with business and technology stakeholders.
  • Maintain requirements, process documentation, decisions, and other functional artifacts throughout the solution lifecycle.

Delivery & Testing

  • Support backlog refinement by ensuring requests are complete, documented, and ready for technical evaluation and delivery.
  • Partner with business and technical resources throughout design, development, testing, and deployment.
  • Develop test scenarios and scripts; coordinate and execute functional testing, document defects, and support retesting and business acceptance.
  • Track requirements, decisions, dependencies, issues, and action items through delivery and escalate risks or gaps as appropriate.
  • Support release readiness, stakeholder communications, training, and change activities.

Continuous Improvement

  • Analyze business processes, recurring issues, and user feedback to identify opportunities for simplification, automation, and improved user experience.
  • Maintain documentation as business processes and system capabilities evolve.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in business analysis, HR technology, enterprise applications, project delivery, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience gathering and documenting business requirements, processes, and test scenarios.
  • Strong process analysis, documentation, facilitation, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to translate business needs into clear, actionable requirements and work effectively across business and technology teams.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Systems, Human Resources, Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Workday or other enterprise HR technology.
  • Knowledge of HR, Payroll, Benefits, or related business processes.
  • Experience with process mapping, functional testing, Agile, or product-oriented delivery methodologies.
  • Experience in a regulated or SOX-controlled environment.
