Senior Workday Functional Lead - Absence

TL;DR

Supports the configuration, maintenance, and optimization of Workday Absence Management and core HCM. This role partners closely with HR, Legal, and internal application teams to ensure absence plans and employee data are accurately maintained, compliant, and aligned with company policy.

Additional Information

The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors. In accordance with law, the base salary for this role if filled within Charlotte, NC is $100k - $130k/year & benefits (see below).

Responsibilities:

  • Configure and maintain absence plans, accrual policies, and time off types in Workday.

  • Support core HCM functions including org management, job and position data, and business process configuration.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve absence and HCM-related system issues and employee/manager inquiries.

  • Partner with HR and Legal to translate policy changes into system configuration.

  • Collaborate with internal application teams on absence data flows and downstream system impacts.

  • Support EIB data loads for absence balance adjustments and corrections.

  • Participate in Workday bi-annual release reviews, assessing impact to absence and HCM functionality.

  • Document configuration decisions, business processes, and test scripts.

  • Assist with audits and exception reporting to ensure data integrity.

Requirements:

  • 2+ years of Workday experience with hands-on Absence & HCM configurations.

  • Required: proven ability to independently configure absence and leave plans end-to-end, including accrual logic, carryover rules, and leave of absence management - with minimal need for direction or oversight.

  • Ability to manage competing priorities and communicate clearly with non-technical stakeholders.
