About the role and team

Community Operations at Uber is where real people solve real problems in real time. The pace is intense, the stakes are high, and the answers aren’t always clear. You’ll need to stay calm under pressure, balance empathy with action, and make decisions that move quickly — and with care. If you’re sharp, steady, and motivated by meaningful service at scale, this is where you’ll grow.

As a People Operations Specialist you will be the heartbeat of the employee experience, managing the essential administrative lifecycle from onboarding to offboarding. You will navigate complex labor laws and internal systems to ensure our teams are supported, acting as the critical link between HR functional areas and the people who keep Uber moving. This role is for someone who thrives in the messiness of high-growth environments and finds purpose in turning ambiguity into reliable, scalable support.

About the role:

You will be the functional expert for our HRIS, driving seamless employee experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Execute complex transactions and lifecycle events—such as new hires, job changes, or terminations ensuring our system of record remains a system of trust.
  • Act as a critical liaison between employees, vendors, and COEs to resolve intricate inquiries and ensure service consistency across the region.
  • Partner to operationalize new programs and participate in UAT for system enhancements, ensuring regional nuances are built into global designs.
  • Research and resolve data discrepancies, collaborating with Payroll, IT, and other People Ops teams.
  • Collaborate to refine Tier 0 (Self-Service) and Tier 1 knowledge content, utilizing your expertise to help AI solve more problems before they reach your desk.
  • Analyze case trends in ServiceNow and HRIS data to identify recurring friction points and recommend scalable, predictive solutions to improve the employee experience.
  • Monitor data quality through regular audits, identify issues, and recommend process improvements.
  • Assist in preparing reports or dashboards for People Ops leadership as needed.
  • Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for system enhancements and new functionality.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of HR experience, with direct experience in HR data management.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in a shared services or centralized HR environment preferred.
  • Familiarity with HRIS systems (Workday, Oracle, or similar) and transaction processing.
  • Strong attention to detail with proven data entry accuracy and compliance awareness.
